I've been offline for a bit but I've been shooting lots. Right now I'm trying to catch up all my editing and I'm working hard to move out of Alaska.

Shay's Art show came out awesome and she's selling off her work before we move this winter. Check it out on her esty [link] She's got lots of sweet stuff.

Jesh, if I were to purchase a moderately-priced, beginner's digital camera, what would you recommend? I shot with a Nikon for the Fair and loved it, but it was an $800 basic with a $400 lens...Which I cannot afford...
:icontommiecarbomb:
First question. Do you prefer Nikon over Cannon? Some people have strong feelings one way or the other. They're both coming out with some new stuff so prices should be dropping a bit I think.

I can help you narrow it down :)
:iconmikesgotwords:
Not necessarily. I don't really HAVE a preference since none of my stuff requires any specific bells & whistles. I just need something with a decent zoom on it and that's not going to die on me anytime soon.

;)
:icontommiecarbomb:
Do you need it to be an slr (the sort where the lens comes off)? Cause you can get them as a kit but the lens is only 18-55mm.

But Canon makes a nice camera with at 20x zoom. I have to double check its price.

a good starter slr will run $700-$800 with the smaller lens. or you could get a basic 70-200mm for around $220-$250.
